B.C. ignoring science based management yet again

An article fresh off the press from The Globe and Mail states “The B.C. government will change its regulations for trapping wolves after conservationists raised the alarm about a trophy hunter who announced, through social media, her intent to remove a wolf pack.”

It's an everyday event for the wolf. Either for sustenance, or fun, killing is their life.. All variations of hunting methods are hereditary in wolves, stalking, ambush, long distance pursuit, teamwork, and even digging out hibernating bears in winter time slumber. Nothing like a fat young bear, filled with mothers milk. Predator management is becoming a forgotten science across North America. Hunters and trappers are the true conservationists, fighting the good fight. Wolves have a huge part in the recent decline in large ungulates in the rocky mountain trench and areas alike. The current provincial government is showing yet again that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, the same groups who were a large part in shutting down a grizzly bear harvest in the province are now trying to push the same agenda with wolves. Contact your local MLA and express your concern, our concerns need to be voiced to insight change for the better. Push for science based management.

“Katrine Conroy, the Minister for Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development, said in an interview Thursday that she was unaware until this week that there are no limits on trapping wolves in the province.” This quote from the article once again proves how out of touch our Ministry is with current regulations and basic conservation in this province. Time for positive change, encouraging proper predator management. Not trying to shut wolf hunters and trappers down. Promote it, offer bounties or incentives.
